Rayudu Highlights Porel's Innings
New Delhi [India], April 23: Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu praised the performance of Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Abhishek Porel during his innings against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday.
During a discussion on Match Centre Live on JioHotstar, Rayudu acknowledged Porel's striking ability but also noted areas where he could improve. He recommended that Porel observe KL Rahul's innings to enhance his batting technique, particularly by focusing on more grounded shots.
“Porel played a commendable innings. While he wasn't always fully in control—there were a few lucky shots—everything seemed to work for him that night. Ideally, he should have finished the game like KL Rahul did. He can take lessons from that. His striking was notable, but he could refine his batting style—perhaps aim for more boundaries along the ground like Sai Sudharsan. Overall, it was a solid performance,” Rayudu commented on Match Centre Live.
Mukesh Kumar's Bowling Excellence
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson also lauded DC bowler Mukesh Kumar for his impressive bowling display, particularly his skill in utilizing reverse swing to dismiss the formidable Mitchell Marsh. Watson emphasized Mukesh's dedication and his vital role in securing wickets during the middle overs.
“Mukesh Kumar bowled exceptionally well. He capitalized on the ball reversing early—the yorker that dismissed Mitchell Marsh swung significantly. Marsh was in great form, making that wicket crucial. Mukesh showed full commitment and effectively targeted key wickets in the middle overs,” Watson remarked.
Delhi Capitals Secure Victory
Rahul's aggressive play, alongside Porel's steady half-century, led Delhi Capitals to an impressive 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Following a strong bowling effort, the exhilarating fifties from Rahul and Porel ensured that DC clinched the win with ease. Rahul, who previously played three seasons with Lucknow, returned to his former venue and silenced the crowd with a record-breaking 57*, bringing DC's points tally to 12, equal with Gujarat Titans.
Rahul achieved his 40th half-century in the IPL, becoming the fastest player to reach 5000 runs in the league's history.
